Drywall Repair in Secaucus
We fix damaged drywall in your home, from doorknob holes and stress cracks to sections soaked by a leak. Before any work starts we cover the floor, shield your furniture and contain the dust, and we leave the room clean at the end of every day.
When Drywall Repair Is the Right Call
Drywall is tough until it isn't. A gypsum core wrapped in paper takes years of daily life well, but it gives way to a swinging door, a dropped dresser, a slow leak or a house that settles and shifts with the seasons. Once the paper tears or the core goes soft, the damage tends to spread unless it is cut out and rebuilt properly.
Repair makes sense when the damage is confined to one area and the framing behind it is sound. That covers most of what we see: holes, cracked corners, loose tape seams, nail pops and stained sections. If a whole room needs new boards, our drywall hanging page explains that work. For small dings only, drywall patching is usually enough.
We work inside lived-in homes, so we plan every repair around the people still using the space. Covered floors, sealed doorways and a vacuumed room at the end of each day are part of how we do the job, not an extra.
What Our Drywall Repair Covers
- Hole and impact repair
- We square off the damaged area, add backing where needed and set a new piece of drywall flush with the wall. Larger holes get a cut-in patch instead of a mound of compound that cracks later.
- Crack and seam repair
- Cracks over doors and windows and along tape seams usually come back if they are just filled. We open them up, re-tape with fresh compound and feather the edges wide so the line disappears.
- Nail and screw pops
- We drive in or pull the fastener, add a new screw beside it to hold the board tight to the stud, then fill and sand the spot.
- Water-damaged sections
- Once the source of the leak has been fixed by others, we check the board with a moisture meter, cut out anything soft or stained through and replace it with new drywall.
- Texture matching and sanding
- We match the surrounding finish, whether smooth, orange peel or knockdown, and sand with dust-control equipment so the repair blends in.
- Protection and daily cleanup
- Drop cloths, plastic over doorways and furniture, and a full vacuum and wipe-down before we leave each day.
Signs Your Walls Need Repair
A hole you keep covering up
If a picture or a piece of furniture is hiding damage, the edges are probably crumbling. Fixing it now keeps the repair small.
Cracks that return
A crack that comes back after filling points to a failed tape joint or movement in the framing. It needs re-taping, not more spackle.
Bulging or soft spots
Drywall that feels spongy or bows outward has likely absorbed water. Damp gypsum loses strength and can hold mold behind the paper.
Brown rings or peeling paper
Stains and lifting paper often show up near bathrooms and below windows. After humid summers and a run of window condensation, they are common in older rooms.
Small bumps in a row
Evenly spaced bumps along a wall or ceiling are nail pops. They are simple to fix but look worse each season if ignored.
How a Repair Day Goes
- 1
Get your quote by phone
Call and tell us what happened and where. We ask a few questions, may ask for a look at the damage, and give you a clear picture of the work and what affects the price.
- 2
Protect the room first
We lay floor coverings from the entry to the work area, move or wrap furniture and hang plastic over openings so dust stays put.
- 3
Cut out and rebuild
We remove damaged material, add backing or blocking as needed and fasten new drywall tight to the framing.
- 4
Tape, mud and sand
Joints get taped and coated in thin layers, with drying time between coats. Most repairs need more than one visit for this reason. Sanding is done with dust control, and we match the texture.
- 5
Clean up and walk through
We vacuum, wipe surfaces, remove the debris and walk you through the finished wall. If you need color on the patch, our paint touch-ups service handles that.

What Affects the Cost of Drywall Repair
Every repair is priced on what the wall actually needs, and we explain each part of the quote before any work begins. The biggest variables are how much damage there is and what we find once the drywall is opened up.
- Size and number of repairs
- One fist-sized hole is a different job from several damaged sections across a room. Grouping repairs into one visit usually keeps the total down.
- What is behind the wall
- Wet insulation, missing backing or damaged framing adds steps. We show you what we find before going further.
- Texture and finish
- A smooth wall is simpler to blend than a knockdown or hand-applied texture, which takes more time to match.
- Location and access
- Stairwells, high walls and tight closets need ladders, scaffolding or extra care, which adds time.
Drywall Repair Questions
Something not covered here? (201) 800-6041
How messy is drywall repair?
Sanding drywall makes fine dust, so we plan for it. We cover floors, seal doorways with plastic and use dust-control sanding equipment. At the end of each day the room is vacuumed and wiped down so you can use it.
How long will the repair take?
Small repairs can often be finished in a couple of short visits. Joint compound needs to dry between coats, so most repairs span more than one day even when the hands-on work is brief. We tell you the expected schedule when you call.
Will the repair show once it's done?
Our goal is a wall where you cannot find the patch. We feather the compound wide, sand it smooth and match the existing texture. Fresh compound does need primer and paint to match the rest of the wall.
Can you repair drywall after a leak?
Yes, once the leak itself has been fixed. We check the board with a moisture meter, cut out anything that stayed wet or stained through, let the cavity dry and install new drywall.
Do you work in Secaucus apartments and rentals?
We do, for owners, landlords and property managers. We keep the work area contained, which matters in shared buildings, and we can work around a tenant's schedule.
